What CBD is

Cannabidiol, usually called CBD, is one of many cannabinoids produced by the cannabis plant. Important evidence context. Micelle 60 and FDA-approved prescription cannabidiol are separate products. No clinical, pharmacokinetic, exposure, efficacy, safety or comparability bridge has been established between them. Micelle 60 is not FDA approved, and no clinical benefit or product-specific safety profile has been established for it.

CBD and THC
Delta-9 THC can cause the characteristic intoxication associated with cannabis. CBD does not ordinarily cause that intoxication, but it is not neurologically inactive. Hemp is a legal classification
Under current U.S. law, hemp is a legal classification, not a separate botanical species. It includes Cannabis sativa and its derivatives containing no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis. A hemp-derived product may still contain THC. Isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum
These are commonly used market descriptions, not uniform federal measures of quality. “CBD isolate” generally describes highly purified CBD. “Broad-spectrum” and “full-spectrum” are used for extracts that retain other plant constituents; full-spectrum products may contain THC. The actual composition must be established from the product specification, label and appropriate lot testing. These descriptions alone do not establish purity, quality, safety, absorption or clinical effect.
Product and route matter
Formulation and route of administration can affect absorption and exposure. Evidence about a swallowed softgel, oil, inhaled product or topical product should not be assumed to apply to another form. A milligram, abbreviated mg, is a unit of mass. On a label, check whether the amount is stated per unit, per serving or per container. The number does not by itself establish purity, quality, absorption, exposure, safety or clinical effect.
